The house had been left relatively untouched by the previous owners, leaving the paint on the cladding and windowsills to crack and peel. Jen started by sanding back the old paint and applying Zinsser Peel Stop®, a clear, flexible bridging sealer, perfect for surfaces where peeling, flaking, dusting or chalking is a problem.
Peel Stop® tightly bonds to old paint and problem areas forming a sound surface for new paint. Next, Jen applied two coats of Zinsser AllCoat Exterior to the cladding, masonry and windows. Available in Matt, Satin and Gloss, Zinsser AllCoat Exterior is an ultimate performance paint offering supreme protection to all exterior surfaces. It forms a tough, vapour-permeable, low maintenance, water-shedding finish that is recoatable in just 1 hour.
For most jobs, there is no need to purchase a separate primer. AllCoat is self-priming and can be applied to previously painted surfaces including glossy, those coated with bitumen, tar varnish or creosote, without sanding.
AllCoat Exterior gives excellent resistance against cracking, blistering and flaking. The tough finish is resistant to rain and severe weather and offers excellent colour retention, in addition the paint contains a biocide to protect the dried coating against fungal degradation.
The first coat primes and seals the surface, providing a base for the topcoat. The topcoat completes the sealing process while providing additional moisture resistance and protection, ensuring that any exterior looks bright and beautiful for up to 15 years.
