When Becki Wordley purchased Georgian manor house Patshull Hall in 2016, her main goal was to restore the remarkable estate back to its original purpose: a family home.
Almost 300 years old and steeped with history, Becki knew that Zinsser was up to the challenge of renovating one of the largest listed buildings in the UK.
About to embark on a huge restoration project, Becki noted that one of the main problems was water ingress, with outside water seeping into the house and staining the walls and ceilings. After fixing the leaks and allowing the water stains to dry out, black mould stains were removed using Zinsser Universal Cleaner & Degreaser. Next, Zinsser Mould Killer & Remover was applied to the area, to ensure any mould spores were eliminated prior to decorating.
Once surfaces were completely clean and dry, the primer, sealer, stain-killer Zinsser B-I-N was used to spot prime the stained areas, before a full coat was applied to the walls and ceilings. The perfect problem-solving primer for the job, Zinsser B-I-N blocks odours and a variety of stains, including water and mould, and creates a barrier that prevents them from bleeding through to the topcoat. Zinsser B-I-N also has the benefit of a lightning-fast drying time, making it ideal for larger projects like Patshull Hall, as multiple rooms can be decorated quickly and overcoated in just 45 minutes.
Finally, Zinsser Perma-White was applied as the decorative topcoat, a fast-drying, two-coat, water-based paint that achieves a durable, scrubbable finish with excellent colour retention. With the added advantage of preventing mould growth on the paint film surface, Zinsser Perma-White proved to be the ideal paint for the project, as it prevents mould and mildew from returning in the future; it’s also tintable to BS, RAL and NCS colours.
Impressed with the quality of the finished project, Becki said that she would highly recommend Zinsser, stating that “it’s a fantastic product to work with, the coverage has been great, and we are really pleased with the end-result.”
